GRASPLancet (London, England) 2021
Progressive exercise compared with best practice advice, with or without corticosteroid injection, for the treatment of patients with rotator cuff disorders (GRASP): a multicentre, pragmatic, 2 × 2 factorial, randomised controlled trial.
Progressive exercise was not superior to a single advice session at 12 months. Injection gave a short-term benefit at 8 weeks but not at 12 months.

UK FROSTLancet (London, England) 2020
Management of adults with primary frozen shoulder in secondary care (UK FROST): a multicentre, pragmatic, three-arm, superiority randomised clinical trial.
All three groups improved substantially; differences between them did not reach clinical importance. Capsular release carried more risk and cost, and manipulation under anaesthesia was the most cost-effective.

FIMPACTBMJ (Clinical research ed.) 2018
Subacromial decompression versus diagnostic arthroscopy for shoulder impingement: randomised, placebo surgery controlled clinical trial.
There was no clinically relevant difference in pain between decompression and diagnostic arthroscopy at two years.

CSAWLancet (London, England) 2018
Arthroscopic subacromial decompression for subacromial shoulder pain (CSAW): a multicentre, pragmatic, parallel group, placebo-controlled, three-group, randomised surgical trial.
Both surgical arms improved slightly more than no treatment, but decompression gave no clinically important benefit over arthroscopy alone. The difference between the two surgical groups was not significant.

UKUFFThe bone & joint journal 2017
Effectiveness of open and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (UKUFF): a randomised controlled trial.
There was no significant difference in Oxford Shoulder Score, re-tear rate or complications between arthroscopic and open repair.

Moosmayer cuff surgery vs physiotherapyThe Journal of bone and joint surgery. British volume 2010
Comparison between surgery and physiotherapy in the treatment of small and medium-sized tears of the rotator cuff: A randomised controlled study of 103 patients with one-year follow-up.
Primary repair gave significantly better Constant and ASES scores, pain-free abduction and pain relief at one year. Roughly a fifth of the physiotherapy group went on to secondary repair because of insufficient improvement.

Robinson primary arthroscopic stabilisationThe Journal of bone and joint surgery. American volume 2008
Primary arthroscopic stabilization for a first-time anterior dislocation of the shoulder. A randomized, double-blind trial.
Early arthroscopic Bankart repair significantly reduced recurrent instability and improved shoulder-specific function compared with lavage.
